Now in general, I am a fan of The Donald. He may well be mercurial, and his positions sometimes fuzzle even his most loyal supporters, but, I still reckon that America got the best after the Election. He holds his base close, and delights when meeting them, because he understands the yearning which enveloped him when he promised ‘Drain the Swamp’. True, the ‘Swamp’ also includes some of the RINO’s who sit in Congress; and there is one large bunch of ‘swampie’ inhabitants, but, hopefully, he is making slow progress. He has also promised to bring jobs back to America; and I really wish him well, but foresee rocks and shoals ahead.
There is but one thorny patch which will rise up and trap the Man without him even knowing about it, and someone ought to tell him, so he can arm his squadrons and clear that patch away. Trouble is, it seems to be a part of the American Experience, so that when a company goes looking for workers to fill even semi-skilled jobs, part of the local labour pool has declared themselves ‘unavailable’. Are they uneducated? Nope. Are they weak, and ill served with muscle structure? Nope. Do they want to work? Well, some do, but they have made themselves ‘unavailable’ because they cannot pass a drug use test. If you run a boiler manufacturing plant, and are looking for a competent, active workforce to fill the jobs which are going begging you either lose out to your competitors, or take in recent arrivals who really want the work.
So if you check out the States which are looking at legalising pot sales, or even growing the stuff; just remember that ‘skunk’ can literally fry your mind, and if you reckon that you can skate on a mandatory drugs test, brother: have you got the wrong headline!
