    Stupid, stupid, moronic people.

Errol, I don’t know what religion you refer to, but Christ did not command us to turn the other cheek to everything.

The whole passage of teaching is rhetorical and aimed at proving the futility of self perfection as claimed by the Pharisees.
The clues are all the way through, –

      It starts with Matt5v20.
For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

      It ends with Matt5v48.
Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

In the middle of the above discourse Jesus also tells his hearers that the cost of failure is to chop your own hands off or pluck your own eyes out! Of course, the self perfection brigade always ignore those sticky verses.

Basically if we want to earn our own way to heaven, then we have to be as perfect as God. I’ve got no chance!
Alternatively, we can receive God’s forgiveness, mercy and grace.

Jesus also taught, “Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.”
If we insist on turning the other cheek, we cannot lay down our lives also!
If a thug invades your home and attempts to rape your wife or daughter, turning the other check is an ungodly and cowardly betrayal of your family, and putting your own safety above those you should protect.
