The NHS, Folks….

It is understood he worked at Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust and Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

Both trusts said they were fully aware of Mr Nair’s background and that he adhered to the conditions of his employment.

But it has now been decided by the GMC that he won’t face a tribunal after ‘undertakings’ were agreed.

Such as…?

The terms include telling the GMC where he works, to agree to a personal development plan to ‘address deficiencies’, only work in an NHS setting, and not to carry out certain procedures, except in life-threatening emergencies.

*speechless*

The GMC is about as much use as the Law Society, or the Financial Reporting Council in protecting the public. Self-interest is always the order of the day.

A thought: Dr Manu Nair’s donation of £1M (mostly funded by C4 Embarrassing Bodies) to the GMC Benevolent Fund did not influence….

Who’s paying for his mentor – aka second surgeon?

The “guilty” Dr Manu Nair or GMC? Or the poor taxpayers?

    Second in one week:
The (Indian) female Dr Vaishnavy Laxman who ripped off a babies head in a Dundee NHS hospital has been judged fit to practice. It was a mistake, she expressed remorse…

The thing with these failings and others is they end up costing the NHS in lawsuits and settlements.

They shouldn’t be allowed to practice in the NHS ever again, lest they cost the taxpayer another small fortune.

As it is, legal costs amount to almost half the NHS budget. Any business that is paying out half it’s budget in legal settlements would have shareholders badgering directors to weed out the rotten eggs.

But the NHS appears immune from such criticism, doctors and NHS managers seem immune from any sort of sanctions.

    It’s unsustainable.

More details please. Or a citation or link.
That claim, ‘legal costs amount to almost half the NHS budget’ is so shocking as to be, literally, incredible without evidence in support of it.

I suspect the source is the tabloid press (see Express) and is, of course, nonsense.

The real figure is less than £2bn – still ridiculously high, but not quite as hysterical as the £56bn wind-up figure imagined by the Express.

So long as PC doctrine is closely adhered to, who cares a fuck about the patients?

The NHS, death factories inc: waiting for, near you.

Anna Raccoon did one of her typically thorough studies on this a year or so ago, and
I think she arrived at a figure around 5bn.
