Our Pinhead of the Month for March is Cllr Kay Cutts, the Conservative leader of Nottinghamshire County Council. Cllr Cutts is behind the recent move to spend £77,975 of council tax payers’ money on rebranding 188 council vehicles and 179 council buildings on the introduction of a “Corporate Identity Policy”. The County Council’s decision to spend nearly £80,000 on rebranding is deeply disappointing. The authority has cut its marketing budget, but it has spoilt all the good work by pushing ahead with this costly rebrand.
It’s not just Westminster, is it? It’s Tower Hamlets, Nottinghamshire and all the other LAs up and down the country – how oh how to rid ourselves of these people? They sneak in through the back door. One might look at Cllr Cutts and think:
1. Conservative – hmmm, fiscally responsible;
2. Woman – social-policy-directive acceptable.
One might have assumed that she’d do it well.
She didn’t. She came up with this hare-brained scheme at a time of austerity. Wonder what sort of money she’s on? When I get back this evening, I’ll add her to The List.
